C-SPAN Bus coming to Metro again to honor 1st and 2nd Prize winners

The C-SPAN Bus will be in Phoenix on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Metropolitan Arts Institute from 9am-11am.

StudentCam is an annual, national student documentary competition that asks students to put together a short documentary on an issue of local and national importance. This year, we are proud to recognize local Phoenix winners in this year’s competition. C-SPAN received over 2,220 entries with almost 5,000 students participating including students from Metropolitan Arts Institute.

It is a rare opportunity to honor students for thinking critically about issues important in our community and across the nation and we appreciate the hard work and creativity these students put into this project.

We would like to congratulate Phoenix local winners:

Severiano Romo, Alexis Rainery, and Molly Kerwick (Grade 12)

Metropolitan Arts Institute

First Prize ($3000)

An IDEA for Tomorrow

Giavanna Anguiano, Sierra Vaught, and Martha Pacheco Flores (Grade 12)

Metropolitan Arts Institute

Second Prize ($1500)

Fuera de la Sombra

A short presentation will be held in Metro's Theatre, and then students will have the opportunity to tour the C-Span Bus.

C-SPAN awards a total of 150 winning videos and 53 faculty advisor prizes totaling $100,000. The annual competition is sponsored by C-SPAN Classroom, a free membership service dedicated to supporting educators’ use of C-SPAN programming and websites in their classes or for research.
