The official website of the International Day of Peace states, "Peace Day should be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples." Metro takes the Friday before Peace Day to contemplate our role as peacemakers. The school community involves themselves in activities organized by the Student Leadership Group. Students and staff dress all in white and make Pinwheels for Peace that are then “planted” in the ground outside the school. A banner is hung near the street that says, “Honk For Peace!” A special Peace Day Coffee House is held in the theater where the students share performances about joy, love, and pacifism.
