Course Description
This Creative Writing course focuses on the intensive study of the creative writing process, how it functions, and how it might vary from writer to writer. Students will not only write their own stories, but study the stories and thoughts of respected writers to understand how successful creative writing looks for all types of writers and backgrounds. Students will also hear from writers in the current literary landscape and how the current creative writing world looks. At the end of the year, students will study the publishing process and will create their own online issue of a literary magazine to showcase their own work, as well as the work of students within Metro but outside of the course. This tradition will continue yearly to ensure Metro has a strong body of Creative Writing work to show the literary community just what high school students are capable of.
