Description

Biology is the scientific study of life. As such, it is an incredibly broad and diverse field. Biologists study life at many scales, from cells to organisms to entire ecosystems. In Biology 9, we seek to survey the vast landscape of biological science, including cell biology, genetics, evolution, and ecology.  We will engage in the practices of science to observe, hypothesize, experiment, discuss, model, analyze, and revise our understanding as new evidence comes to light. We will practice scientific literacy, engaging with current events in science. We will develop and defend arguments based on textual evidence and accumulated data.  Finally, we will work to build our scientific habits of mind and academic skills to become scientifically literate citizens and capable college students.
