Description

The goal of this course is to provide students with the core algebra skills needed to advance to the next grade level as well as to pass the standardized test created to assess the Common Core Standards. The first semester will focus on solving equations and inequalities, quadratic functions and equations, polynomial functions, rational functions, rational exponents, radical functions, exponential functions, and logarithmic functions. The second semester will focus on trigonometric functions, conic sections, statistics and statistical analysis, probability, and matrices. Students will learn definitions and concepts and achieve mastery through rigorous practice. Students will use graphing calculators as tools to explore advanced functions and their applications. Throughout the course, students will use advanced algebraic methods to model real world scenarios about numerical patterns, movement, and rates of change. Stu- dents will collect their own real-world data and model it with an appropriate mathematical function.
