Spanish 2 (Section P3) Assignments

Students will present for 2-3 minutes (Spanish 2 in Spanish) about their chosen Spanish picture book. Students will present their project on a poster board containing all of their written materials (listed on the assignment sheet) and displaying their creative art piece. Requirements for the presentation and the project are posted below and were handed out during class.

Story Book Summary
Each student will summarize their chosen short story in 300-500 words. The summary should be typed in Spanish, double spaced, typed and in 12pt Times New Roman font.

The exam will cover the vocabulary and grammar covered in all of Chapter 7. The grammar structures that will be tested are as follows: stem changing verbs, demonstrative adjectives, the preterite of -AR verbs, the preterite verb from of -CAR and -GAR verbs, and direct object pronouns.

Each student must bring in a children's book, or short story in Spanish. The story must have at least 15 pages with text on them. Books can be ordered online, found at a bookstore, or at the library.

Students should create an individual flash card for each term from the Chapter 7B vocabulary list. The list was provided in class and is attached to this link.

Complete the reflection paper provided in class. The sheet is attached to this post as well. 

Students will be tested on the basic geography of the Spanish speaking world. They will be required to know the location of all the Spanish speaking countries, their capitals and major lang geographical land features throughout Latin America.

Using at least 15 words from the 7B vocabulary list provide in class today, write a short creative story. The list is also attached to this post. 

As a class we will be celebrating the Day of the Dead. It is a very significant and important holiday in Mexican culture and hope to understand a piece of that through the celebration in class. Each student is encouraged to bring in a picture of a loved one, a friend, a pet, or anyone that has passed and has had a significant impact on their life. In addition to the picture students are encouraged to bring in something that reminds them of that person or something to remember that person by. Many times in celebration of Dia De Los Muertos family and friends cook the favorite dish of the person and share it as a way of remembering and celebrating that person. That is a great example of something a student could bring in. Please nothing of high value just to make sure nothing is lost that can't be replaced. 

Students must create an individual flash card for each word/term/phrase on the vocabulary list at the end of Chapter 7A. The list is attached to this post.

Students will take a quiz testing their knowledge of material in Chapter 7A. The test will be mostly short answer, essay and fill in the blank.

Each student will read a passage from Gabriel Garcia Marquez's, 100 Years of Solitude. Students will be graded on their fluency, accurateness of pronunciation and their presentation skills.

First Research Check (25pts):
Each student should be assigned two sections in the project by this time, each student should have two pages of written information about their chosen prominent Latino figure, and each student should should two sources in MLA format for their information that they are using for research.

Create a flash card for each vocabulary term taken from the 6B vocabulary list.

Students on test/quiz day students will be required to turn in flashcards for every word from the 6A vocabulary list provided in class and attached to this post. Each flash card may have up to two vocabulary words on it. The card must contain the vocabulary term on one side and its definition on the other. Every noun must have its definite article. 

Students will take a quiz in class that focuses on making comparison in Spanish and using the superlative. Students will also be tested on the vocabulary for chapter 6A.
