Spanish 1 (Section P2) Assignments

Students will tested on all material covered in the past semester. Material on the test will include but is not limited too the study guide that was handed out in class and is attached to this post.

Students will present for 2-3 minutes (Spanish 2 in Spanish) about their chosen Spanish picture book. Students will present their project on a poster board containing all of their written materials (listed on the assignment sheet) and displaying their creative art piece. Requirements for the presentation and the project are posted below and were handed out during class. 

Students must complete and bring to class vocabulary cards for the Chapters listed above. The required vocabulary is attached below.

 

Students will turn in a character analysis of the characters in their chosen story book. Each character should be analyzed in a minimum of 60 words (minimum total 180 words). The project requirements are attached to this post and were handed out in class.

Students will be tested on the material from Chapter 2A. Test material will include all past vocabulary, present tens -AR verbs, subject pronouns and all other past material.

 

Each student will summarize their chosen short story in 300-500 words. The summary should be double spaced, typed and in 12pt Times New Roman font.

Each student must bring in a children's book, or short story in Spanish. The story must have at least 15 pages with text on them. Books can be ordered online, found at a bookstore, or at the library.

Students should create an individual flash card for each term from the chapter vocabulary list. The list of vocabulary was provided in class and is attached to this post. 

Complete the reflection paper provided in class. The sheet is attached to this post as well. 

Students will be tested on the basic geography of the Spanish speaking world. They will be required to know the location of all the Spanish speaking countries, their capitals and major lang geographical land features throughout Latin America.

As a class we will be celebrating the Day of the Dead. It is a very significant and important holiday in Mexican culture and hope to understand a piece of that through the celebration in class. Each student is encouraged to bring in a picture of a loved one, a friend, a pet, or anyone that has passed and has had a significant impact on their life. In addition to the picture students are encouraged to bring in something that reminds them of that person or something to remember that person by. Many times in celebration of Dia De Los Muertos family and friends cook the favorite dish of the person and share it as a way of remembering and celebrating that person. That is a great example of something a student could bring in. Please nothing of high value just to make sure nothing is lost that can't be replaced. 

Students are required create an individual flash card for each vocabulary word/term from the list at the end of Chapter 1B. 

Students will be tested on the vocabulary, grammar, and content in both Chapters 1A and 1B of the text book.

Each student will read a passage from Gabriel Garcia Marquez's, 100 Years of Solitude. Students will be graded on their fluency, accurateness of pronunciation and their presentation skills.

First Research Check (25pts):

Each student should be assigned two sections in the project by this time, each student should have one page of written information about each section (2 pages total), and each student should have two sources for their information that they are using for research.

Each student should create and turn in a flash card for each vocabulary term on the Chapter 1A list, which was provided in class and is attached to this post.

Students will be tested on grammar and vocabulary covered in chapter 1A.

Using the three questions at the end of the Nacimera piece and in light of the discussion in class, please write a 1 page reflection about the article and the discussion. Feel free to use the questions at the bottom of the article, as well as sharing your own personal thoughts, experiences and reactions.
