Tax Credit Donation- A Great Way to Support Your School!

Two methods to contribute:

You may download and print the Tax Credit Form by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. You will then need to complete and mail the form to the address found on the bottom of the form. Or, if you have a student at Metro, you can have them drop it off in the main office.

You may also make your tax credit contribution online.

Click the DONATE button at the right and indicate in the comments section that you would like it to be a tax credit donation. (Donation must be completed by midnight April 15th if the donation is for the prior tax year.)

A tax credit receipt will be mailed to you. Please retain this receipt to include with your taxes.

CTDS No. 07-89-06-201 Metro Arts is a public charter school and Metro Arts is also the district name

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is a tax credit donation different from a deductible donation?

A: With a tax credit donation, you may subtract the whole contribution from your Arizona state tax bill. If you qualify, you can write a check or use your credit card to contribute up to the limit under the law. When you file your Arizona State Tax Return, you subtract that amount from what you owe or add the amount to your refund. A win-win situation for everyone!

Q: What is the maximum dollar amount available for this credit?
A: A.R.S. 43-1089 allows a tax credit of $200 for individuals and $400 for married couples filing jointly, for fees or donations paid to a public school in support of extracurricular activities.

Q: Does it have to be $400?
A: The amount of the tax credit does not have to be for the total allowable amount of $400. You may donate any amount, up to the $200 or $400 limit. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use by our school.

Q: Where does the money go?
A: You may indicate which department or program you would like to support, or let Metro determine where the funds are most needed. Tax credit funds are used for student field trips, dance and theater performances, First Friday exhibitions and more.

Q: When is the tax credit available?
A: The tax credit is available for taxable year beginning January 1. Contributions must be received by December 31st to qualify for that year’s tax return.

Q: Do I have to have children enrolled in school?
A: No- Any Arizona individual paying state income tax can make a tax credit contribution to Metro Arts.

Q: How does this work on my tax return?
A: As an example, let’s say you made a $300 tax credit contribution. When you file your state taxes, you will note the credit with a 322 form. (downloadable from the State.) If your State tax return calculates to a $500 refund, applying the credit will increase your refund to $800.

If your State tax return calculates to a $400 liability (you owe) then applying the credit will reduce your liability to $100. However, you cannot receive a refund greater than your State income tax assessment for the tax year.
