John Perovich earned his B.A. in Communications: Radio/TV/Film from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, in 2004. While at Rowan, he primarily worked on tv and film by day and participated in the theatre program at night, often performing in main stage and studio productions.
After Rowan, John attended New York University and earned his M.A. in Educational Theatre for Colleges & Communities in 2006. While attending NYU, John instructed after school programs for K-5 in drama and musical theatre.
After NYU, John returned home to southern New Jersey and began working on an after school program with Learning Stages, an educational theatre company in Pitman, New Jersey. John instructed ClassACT, an after school program that worked with K-12 students on theatre skills development through the creation of original works.
He began working at Stockton University in Galloway, New Jersey, in 2007, in their residential life program. While at Stockton, John oversaw residential life programming and also served as an adjunct instructor for playwriting, acting, and dramatic literature for the School of Arts & Humanities.
In 2013, John was accepted into Arizona State University’s M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing program. He focused on playwriting and screenwriting at ASU. He also instructed or assisted in the instruction of theatre and film courses for the School of Film, Dance, and Theatre. He graduated in May 2016.
John’s plays have been featured in festivals with the Kennedy Center, Mid-America Theatre Conference, and the Last Frontier Theatre Conference. John’s plays have also been produced locally at Arizona State University, B3 Productions, and Brelby Theatre Company, in Glendale, AZ. John is the founding Artistic Director of Now & Then Creative Company, in residence at Metro Arts, and is also the Artistic Director of Space 55 in Phoenix. John is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc.
