Social Studies for 7th and 8th Grade

Course Description

Social studies for 7th and 8th grade will be focusing on United States history. Seventh grade students will be covering the time period between the French Indian War up to the Great Depression. Elements of the Revolutionary War (government) will not be taught. Each week the students will have quizzes and assignments. Please check the homework link for a detail listing.

Eighth grade students will spend semester one covering the Great Depression through today. The second semester will be Civics where the students will focus on the formation of our current government system and all aspects of how it functions; with emphasis on the role that they themselves play in our country.

FILMS: For both grades, I watch a plethora of films. Most films are cut down but some are feature length. PLEASE NOTE: Some of the films shown were originally released with a "R" rating. HOWEVER, each of these films have been carefully edited to remove any harsh language, nudity, sexual situations or gratuitous violence. On Day 1, the students will be bringing home a video permission slip (attached to this page) along with a syllabus.  Please read and sign it. If you have any questions regarding my classes or your student, please don't hesitate to email me.
