Physics (Period 4)

Course Description

This course uses algebra-based mathematical models to introduce the fundamental concepts that describe the physical world. Semester 1 topics include units and measurement, vectors, linear kinematics and dynamics, energy, power, momentum, fluid mechanics, and heat. Semester 2 topics include sound, electric fields, electric potential, light, atomic and nuclear physics, and relativity. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles involved and display analytical problem-solving ability for the topics covered. Students will have the opportunity to explore and consolidate their conceptual understanding of physics principles during laboratory experiments and computer-based simulation labs.
